Ubuntu the easier way

For Windows users, there are ways to make the transition easier that surprisingly are not included by default.

The first package I would recommend is xrdp, which once installed via Package Manager, allows you to connect remotely to your Ubuntu machine using the gold old Remote Desktop tool included in every Windows install. This works well and completely seamlessly. See http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/05/connect-to-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin-via-windows-remote-desktop/ for full details.

The second package is called pysdm and allows to manage mounted drives via a GUI and perform some functions such as mount at start-up without having to edit any config files, see http://www.howtogeek.com/60817/how-to-auto-mount-partitions-at-linux-startup-the-easy-way/ for more information.

More to come…
